We do not sell finished jewellery. We sell a blank, a metal, one of four engraving methods, and a studio that tells you the weight, the hallmark position, how many characters actually fit, what it costs and how long it takes — before you pay, not after.

Section 01
Two of these methods cut into the metal. Two of them treat its surface. Nobody can tell the difference from a photograph, which is precisely why we publish the depth, the durability, the smallest character each can hold and what it adds to the lead time.

Holds the longest of the four. Decades of wear soften the edges but the cut stays legible.

A surface mark. On an outer ring face in daily wear it will gradually fade and can polish away.
Surface treatment. Long wear — especially on the outside of a ring — will gradually make it fainter. We do not describe it as lasting for ever.

Fine and bright, but the least resistant to abrasion of the four.
Surface treatment with almost no depth. It wears faster than the cut methods and is not suited to outer ring faces.
Section 02
Each of these is a structural rule in the studio, not a note in the small print. You cannot order a piece that breaks one of them.
01 — The mark comes first
Where a piece is above the exemption weight it is struck with a hallmark, and that mark needs a clear area. We reserve it in the geometry, hatch it in the preview, and cut your text outside it. The reservation is not a suggestion the bench can overrule.

02 — Arithmetic, not optimism
Usable width divided by character width, times the number of lines the height allows. Change the metal, the ring size, the method or the character height and the limit changes with it. Go over and the studio stops you there, rather than at the bench.

03 — Honest about wear
Laser and diamond drag work on the surface of the metal. On the outside of a ring, in daily wear, they grow fainter and can polish away. We will still cut them where they suit the piece — but we will not describe any engraving as lasting for ever.

Section 04
A personalised piece cannot be resold, so the law does not give you a 14-day change of mind on it. Plenty of shops bury that. We would rather put a clock on it: you have 24 hours from placing the order to cancel for a full refund, and we tell you the deadline in the studio, on the confirmation page and in the order email.

Order a blank and change your mind: 14 days from delivery to cancel, no reason needed, standard cancellation form provided. Return it unworn and we refund it.
Once engraved, the 14-day right no longer applies
Made to your specification and clearly personalised, so it falls under regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This is told to you three times before you can pay: in the studio, on the cart line, and as a separate tick at checkout.
Faults are always ours, engraved or not
If the piece is faulty, if we cut the wrong text, if we cut it badly, if we make it to the wrong specification or send you the wrong piece — we repair it, remake it or refund it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Personalisation changes nothing here.
Hallmark and engraving, same wallSection 05
In the UK it is an offence to describe an article as precious metal in the course of trade without the required hallmark, unless it falls under the exemption weight for that metal. A made-to-order piece only has a weight once you have configured it — so the studio estimates it live, decides on submission for you, and adds the cost and the days to the docket rather than surprising you later.
